First photo assignment

My photo class is at the Spruill Center for the Arts, here in the ATL. Our first assignment was to use the white balance feature in program mode with the ISO set at 100 (outside photo). On my camera (Nikon D80) the white balance has seven different options. You were suppose to take the same picture in each setting to see the difference. We present today, of course the class if full of gay men, so naturally they are artistic. I did not venture to far to take this picture, but it was raining on and off all day yesterday... plus my models (Boo, Bee, Bunny, and Ben) would not sit still.
WB in automatic mode, the camera seems to do a good job on its own, hmm.

My first picture...

I decided it was time for me to take a class. I, however, decided to enroll in a photography class as opposed to an eco toxicity course. For years I've been thinking about academically challenging myself, (pondering that masters) but instead went down the ... life is to short, do something fun route (inspired by my sister Svati, who ironically has two masters, a MD, and years and years of medical training in order to be a cardiologist, I know I'll be blogging about her soon) So, yes I'm feeling just a little guilty, but I know it will pass soon. It might have just passed. I officially started my digital SLR photography class last Monday, June 16th. I will post my first assignment shortly. But before I do, I wanted to show you a picture I took prior to the class. My camera was set on P (program mode), ISO 100, the rest I don't know...This reminds me of a time when I was in high school and we all went to the cemetary with candles. We thought we were having a seance, once again no idea what I was doing, kind of like this picture.

The last time I played with a camera was in high school. I took a 35 mm photo class as an elective. I actually was semi-artistic back then, well at least I thought I was... It was taught by our highly intense and intelligent math teacher, Mr. Myers. I think we might have even got him to crack a smile back then because of the odd pictures that Ann, Heidi and I took. Yes, I was weird in HS. Maybe if I keep up with bloggin, I'll scan some of the pictures and post.

Well I think I've rambled enough. One last thing this picture was taken at Kristen and Sebastian's house last night. We had a fanstastic Italian dinner, the main dish being gnocchi. They just got back from Italy and brought back pesto and some BO. It was tasty.
